Instructions to Sino-Eco Publication List Contributors

Sino-Eco opened a Publication page on its website.  Sino-Eco Publication page is primarily aiming at helping our colleagues in China, because many of them do not have immediate access to many of foreign publications.  The Publication page is also expected to help oversea Sino-Ecologists familiarize each other's work and to enhance communications.  Your contributions to the Sino-Eco Publication database (i.e., sending your publication list to publication@sino-eco.org) are greatly appreciated.  To make a quality, usable data base, please follow the following guidelines in preparing your publication list.

The Publication page intends to list all ecology-related publications appearing in non-Chinese sources and authored or coauthored by oversea and/or domestic Chinese ecologists including both Sino-Eco Association members and those who are not the association members.  The database for the Publication page will be updated 2-4 times a year.

The format of the full citation of a publication follows the journal Ecology with minor changes in book chapter publications (e.g., using '(ed.)' instead of 'editor', and using 'In:' instead of 'in' in italic).  Because no manpower is available to edit the submitted lists, each contributor should strictly follow the format stated above and shown in the example files when a publication list is prepared.  In the data base, the same publication that is submitted by different coauthors of the same publication in slightly different formats in different submissions (particularly in its first 100 characters) may be treated as different publications and listed for more than once.  To avoid this problem, PLEASE check your submission carefully against the format of the journal Ecology or the example file SinoPub.xls.

Abbreviation format for Chinese authors' names: Use "Chen, L. Z." (in the case of senior author) or "L. Z. Chen" (in the case of junior author or book editor) for "Lingzhi Chen".  Please don’t use “Chen, L.” or “Chen, L.-Z.” for " Lingzhi Chen".

All publications must have page numbers.  Papers that are in press but don’t have page numbers should not be included. Papers that appeared in technical reports should not be included.  Papers that appeared in Chinese journals or books should not be included.

Publication lists from individuals should be submitted to publication@sino-eco.org in a spreadsheet format such as Excel and dBASE with two columns (see SinoPub.xls as an example).  The first column holds the year of a publication, which will be used in future for sorting and reorganizing publications.  The second column holds the full citation of a publication.  Please use your name to name your publication list file (e.g., Chen-Lingzhi.xls for Lingzhi Chen’s publication list).  Publication lists from individuals can be submitted to publication@sino-eco.org at any time.  When you submit a new publication list, please do not list those publications that have been already listed on the Sino-Eco Publication page.
